Modsports Revival Meeting

August Bank Holiday 2011

Following the demise of the Longleat Hillclimb, the NDR had not held their traditional annual meeting since the Imp Club National weekend in 2009, so the Mallory Park Modsports Revival Meeting provided an excellent excuse for a get-together with the chance not only to meet up and exchange notes but also to see some Davrian action on the track. Sadly though, despite a total of five Davrian entries over the weekend,  there was little opportunity to see them in action as they all suffered a variety of problems - the only cars actually reaching the starting grid during the weekend being the Mk1 and Mk8 Davrians of John Jeffrey on the Sunday with only the Mk8 reaching the finish line.

Despite the very inclement weather, there was a good turnout of Davrian enthusiasts including Tim Duffee and his wife Val. Winner of the Adrian Evans Memorial Cup was Stuart Lever with his mini -engined turbo-charged Mk8 (it may be remembered that Stuart also won this award for “Best Davrian” with his Mk5 in 2002).

Thanks to all those who helped to make this such an enjoyable event and in particular  to Hugo Holder of the Classic Sports Car Club who very kindly assisted us by arranging the parking space for the NDR lineup.
