Longleat 2008

For 2008, the Longleat Hillclimb moved from its traditional late September date, to early July. One might have hoped that this would have provided us with a better than usual opportunity for good weather - unfortunately though, luck wasn’t with us and the day was interspersed with strong winds and showers.

As far as the Davrian contingent was concerned, Longleat 2008 was a particularly low-key event owing in part to the change of date, which despite a reasonable level of publicity, seemed to confuse number of NDR members and also to the fact that that two regular runners, Ken Banks and John Rawlins were unable to compete as a result of gearbox gremlins.

However, there was one highlight to our weekend - we were very honoured to be joined by legendary Davrian  race driver, Bob Jarvis and also by ex-Davrian employee Ben Graham , the very man who had accompanied Bob Jarvis on his abortive venture into International racing at Mugello in the late sixties. Thanks also to Tim Duffee, who as ever joined us for the day.

The Adrian Evans Memorial Cup went to Steve Alecock and the trophies for “Best NDR Car” and “NDR Handicap Challenge” went to  Robert Harrison and Steve Alecock respectively.
